Atal Pension Yojana (APY)

Atal Pension Yojana is a Government of India-backed, voluntary pension scheme administered by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). Eligible subscribers contribute until age 60 and receive a guaranteed minimum monthly pension of ₹1,000–₹5,000, depending on the selected pension slab.

How to Apply — Step by Step

  1. Open an eligible savings account with a participating bank/Post Office, if needed.
  2. Apply through the bank/Post Office using the APY form, or use the online APY facility.
  3. Provide the required personal, bank, nominee and pension details.
  4. Complete KYC/e-KYC and authorise auto-debit.
  5. Select the ₹1,000–₹5,000 pension slab and contribution frequency.
  6. Save the acknowledgement/PRAN details.

How to Track Application

Existing subscribers can log in to the official APY account facility to access account-related services. Online enrolment generates an acknowledgement after successful registration.

What to Do If Something Goes Wrong

For contribution, account or enrolment problems, first contact the APY bank/Post Office/PoP-SP. If unresolved, lodge a grievance through the official CGMS route. A grievance token is generated for status tracking; unresolved grievances can be escalated to NPS Trust.
